Energy, involvement & intent
Work engagement, discretionary effort, advocacy/eNPS as a separate indicator, and intention to stay. These are treated as outcomes—not automatically as causes.
EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE &ENGAGEMENT INTELLIGENCE
A configurable enterprise pulse-check system designed to distinguish engagement outcomes from the workplace conditions that shape them—then turn patterns into prioritized action without pretending a survey alone proves causality.
MEASUREMENT ARCHITECTURE
The Culture Compass uses a proprietary Syntropix framework informed by established organizational research, while keeping a clear distinction between evidence supporting a construct and validation of the Syntropix instrument itself. The instrument should be psychometrically evaluated on client and validation samples before any claim of proprietary predictive validity or normative benchmarking is made.
Work engagement, discretionary effort, advocacy/eNPS as a separate indicator, and intention to stay. These are treated as outcomes—not automatically as causes.
Role clarity, resources, autonomy, workload sustainability, process friction, learning, career opportunity and recognition.
Clarity, coaching, feedback quality, fairness, recognition, psychological safety creation, accountability and development support.
Strategic clarity, communication integrity, confidence in leadership, change communication and perceived consistency between stated values and decisions.
Respect, inclusion, voice, interpersonal safety, procedural fairness and equitable access to opportunity—analyzed with privacy thresholds.
Collaboration, team reliability, cross-functional friction, information flow and mutual support.
Line of sight from role to customer/business impact, meaning, values alignment and confidence in priorities.
Manageable demands, recovery opportunity, support and work-life interface. The Culture Compass is not a clinical mental-health diagnostic.
Open-text prompts capture strengths, friction, manager practices and employee-proposed improvements. Automated text analysis must remain reviewable by humans.
SURVEY DESIGN
Recommended starting architecture: approximately 45–55 carefully tested Likert items, 1 eNPS item kept analytically separate, 3–4 open-text prompts, and only business-relevant demographics. Final item count follows pilot reliability/factor analysis—not arbitrary length.
Short rotating pulse modules can track priority drivers between census waves. Stable anchor items preserve trend comparability; rotating items answer current business questions.
Five-point agreement or frequency scales with explicit labels, plus “not applicable” where conceptually valid. Favor neutrally worded, single-idea items and avoid double-barrelled or leading statements.
ANALYSIS STANDARD
Pretest through cognitive interviews; pilot; inspect missingness, ceiling/floor effects and item distributions; estimate internal consistency using omega (and alpha for comparability); examine item-total relationships; use EFA during development and CFA on an independent/held-out sample when sample size and design support it. Test measurement invariance before treating subgroup score differences as directly comparable.
Use correlations and multivariable models to identify associations with engagement/intent outcomes, with uncertainty intervals and multicollinearity checks. Longitudinal or experimental evidence is required before labeling a driver causal. Importance can combine effect size, prevalence of unfavorable experience and actionability.
Show change with sample sizes, confidence intervals/effect sizes where appropriate, and response-rate context. Flag practical significance separately from statistical significance. Avoid ranking tiny score differences as meaningful.
Theme coding, sentiment as a secondary signal, representative verbatims with privacy review, theme prevalence and linkage to quantitative dimensions. AI-generated summaries must be labeled and human-reviewed before executive publication.
PRIVACY-BY-DESIGN SLICING
Culture Compass Executive brings experience patterns, manager effectiveness and action priorities into one governed workspace—without pretending a reporting threshold alone guarantees anonymity.
High favorable experience with meaningful outcome association.
Low favorable experience, high importance and clear actionability.
Material gap that needs medium-term structural intervention.
Lower priority, uncertain evidence or insufficient sample.
Confidentiality guardrail. Every slice inherits suppression rules. A default threshold of at least 5 respondents is a safeguard, not a guarantee of anonymity; higher thresholds or complementary-cell suppression should be used where combinations could permit re-identification.
Raw identifiable response export is not a default manager capability.
REPORTING ARCHITECTURE
Participation, overall experience profile, outcome indicators, strengths, urgent priorities, material subgroup gaps, driver evidence, text themes, risk notes and 90-day action portfolio.
Manager Effectiveness profile, team experience patterns, strengths to preserve, behaviors to change, recommended coaching/development actions and follow-up pulse measures—only when confidentiality rules are satisfied.
Protect what works. Fix now high-impact friction. Build structural capability over 6–12 months. Investigate ambiguous signals. Every recommendation records owner, due date, measure and review cadence.
EXPERIENCE PREVIEW
Sample architecture—not normative benchmarking or a customer result.
Illustrative sample values. Reporting must follow configured confidentiality and subgroup rules.
VALIDATION ROADMAP
Construct map + literature review
Expert review + cognitive interviews
Pilot + item analysis
Factor/reliability study
Cross-group & criterion evidence
Norms only after adequate representative data
Until those gates are met, Syntropix will describe The Culture Compass as a research-informed employee pulse check and developmental analytics system—not as a universally validated benchmark, diagnostic, or predictor of business outcomes.
